4 die in Thika Superhighway accident

Four people have died in an accident at Ndarugo area in Juja, Kiambu County after the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry that had stalled along the Thika-Nairobi Superhighway.

Juja OCPD Patricia Narsio said the accident involved two vehicles; a saloon car and a lorry, which were both heading towards Nairobi early Sunday morning.

The lorry had been parked along the road when the red saloon car hit it from behind. All the four occupants of the private car died on the spot as they were trapped in the mangled wreckage of the vehicle.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Gen. Kago Morgue.

Traffic police officers are investigating the incident to find out how the driver of the car could not see the lorry yet there was a life saver sign placed several metres from the truck to alert other road users.

Traffic flow was disrupted for sometime as police officers and members of the public struggled to remove the bodies of the deceased from the vehicle.

The accident came on the backdrop of another car crash that left one person dead on Friday, October 13 near Witeithie stage along the Thika Superhighway.
