4 killed in grisly road accident on Nairobi-Mombasa highway
Four people were killed and more than 13 others injured in multiple accidents on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
In the first incident, three people died at Kapiti Plains in Machakos County after a saloon car heading to Nairobi from Mombasa collided head-on with an oncoming caravan van killing all the three occupants on the spot.
Machakos County emergency services director David Mwongela spoke to Citizen Digital saying:
“Three people in the saloon car died instantly, three other passengers in the caravan who had sustained serious injuries were rushed to Machakos Level Five hospital and the other 10 passengers with minor injuries were taken to Shalom community hospital in Athi River.”
Elsewhere, one person was killed, several injured after a police vehicle ferrying inmates to Makueni Prison overturned at Kiunduani area on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
The cause of the accident has not yet been established.
