4 Suspects Arrested In Connection With Thika Road Blasts

Nairobi County Commander Benson Kibue said the four are currently in police custody and will soon be arraigned in court to face terrorism charges.

According to Kibue, the suspects have been positively identified in connection with the blasts and are set to appear in court once investigations are completed.

Kibue warned matatu owners who are not screening passengers that they might face arrest and face similar charges for failure to avoid such situations.

The arrests come after theDirector of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko recalled the case file of five other suspects who include drivers and conductors of the buses that exploded.

Tobiko in his recall said that he wanted time to peruse through the files before further action could be taken against the individuals.

The DPP further argues that he was not consulted before the five suspects were arraigned before court on Tuesday.

The five were arraigned before the Makadara Courts to face charges of failing to prevent murders and also failing to carry out proper screening of the passengers before they boarded their buses.

At least three people died and several others injured in the two buses blasts.
