43 patients in ICU as Kenya coronavirus caseload rises to 45,647

43 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 currently in intensive care as Kenya coronavirus caseload rose to 45,647.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 41 of the ICU patients are on supplementary oxygen.

“A total of 1,049 are currently admitted to various health facilities while 2,562 are under home-based care and isolation,” he said.

Over the last 24 hours, 571 more people tested positive for coronavirus from a sample size of 3,963.

Cumulative tests now stand at 627,781.

From the latest cases, 55 are Kenyans and 13 are foreigners: 361 are males while 210 are females.

The youngest is a one-year-old child and the oldest is 90 years old.

Distribution by counties is as follows: Uasin Gishu and Nairobi 116 each; Mombasa 74; Kiambu 50; Laikipia 43; Kericho 41; Kisumu 23; Nakuru 21; Busia 16; Trans Nzoia 10; Kajiado 9; Nandi 8; Murang’a, Kilifi and Kirinyaga 5 each; West Pokot and Kakamega 4 each; Isiolo and Siaya 3 each; Elgeyo Marakwet, Kisii, Embu, Vihiga and Bungoma 2 each; Kwale, Nyeri, Samburu, Machakos and Turkana 1 each.

438 people recovered from coronavirus: 373 are from the home-based care program and 65 were discharged from various hospitals.

“Total recoveries now stands at 32,522,” Kagwe added.

Three patients succumbed to the virus raising the country’s death toll to 842.
