5 Arrested In Nakuru Over Fake Certificates Saga

These documents include business permits and academic certificates.

The suspects were arrested after police conducted an impromptu raid at a cyber café in Nakuru’s CBD following a tip off.

The raid led by Nakuru County Secretary Joseph Motari, DCIO James Lelia and his officers led to the impounding of computers, printers and a number of fake documents.

Motari said that they began their investigations in October last year triggered by the county’s low revenue collection despite a growing business investment.

Among the suspects are two county government employees and three cyber café printing business proprietors.

According to Motari, the two employees have been colluding with the unscrupulous individuals to process fake business permits.

He further noted that some of them have been on industrial placement with the department.

Among the documents impounded include a number of banks pay slips, fake death certificates, business permits and learning institutions certificates.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
