

Six officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) were killed in Liboi after the vehicle they were in tripped a landmine.
One other officer was critically injured and two more are in stable condition, Garissa County Commissioner Joshua Chepchieng said.
They were airlifted to Nairobi where they will receive further medical treatment.
The nine of them were on patrol along the Kenyan-Somalia border at 8am when their vehicle hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
According to the commissioner, the officers were approaching Liboi when the explosion occurred causing the vehicle to roll several times.

Last year in May, another four GSU officers were killed when their vehicle also ran over an IED.
The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) and GSU are part of the multi-agency team fighting the war in Somalia.
Patrols along the Kenya-Somalia border are part of their mandate as they seek to ward off retaliatory attacks by al Shabaab.
