5 injured in Sagana after fuel tanker rams other cars, catches fire

Five people were injured after a petrol tanker lost control and hit other vehicles on the Kenol-Sagana road.

The 10pm Monday incident occurred at Kambiti Hill after the tanker rammed a Sagana-bound matatu from behind.

The 14-seater matatu then hit a Canter truck that was also heading to Sagana.

Two people who were onboard the matatu sustained minor injuries while two others who were in the truck suffered serious injuries.

They were rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital.

The fuel tanker is said to have caught fire immediately after the accident.

Confirming the accident, Makuyu OCPD Dorothy Gitenga said the tanker’s driver fled the scene after the incident but police are searching for him.
