5 Killed In Fresh Attack In Witu, Lamu County

Lamu County Commissioner Stephen Ikua said that the attackers attacked Witu village on Monday night.

Several other people were injured in the attack.

The attack happened just 15km away from Mpeketoni town where more than 60 people were killed last week.

No group has claimed responsibility for the killings.

The Al Shabaab militant group claimed Mpeketoni attack but this was later dismissed by the Government.

According to President Uhuru Kenyatta, politics was to blame for the attacks.

The incident comes a day after more than 80 Al Shabaab insurgents were attacked and killed by AMISOM forces in Jubbaland in greater Somalia.
