5 Kisumu MCAs wanted at DCI office over alleged assault

Five Kisumu MCAs have been summoned over violence that rocked the county assembly leading to the assault of a Sergeant at Arms.

The five MCAs are  Joachim Oketch  (Kondele), Seth Kanga (Market Milimani), Ojwang Ogendo of (Nyalenda A), Joseph Olale (Nyalenda B) and Seth Okumu (Seme East).

Kisumu Central DCI boss Noah Katumo said the MCAs are expected to appear at his office on Tuesday and warned that those who ignore the summons will be arrested.

The MCAs are accused of causing bodily harm to Chief Sergeant-at-Arms George Amayo in October last year.

The Chief SAA, a licensed a firearm holder, was reportedly forced to shoot in the air in self-defense.

Market Milimani MCA Seth Kanga was reportedly recorded assaulting one of the Sergeant at Arms during the scuffle.

“MCAs do not enjoy immunity on criminal actions that occur in the assembly,” said Arap Towett, the Kisumu County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO).
