More than fifty people have been left homeless and their property destroyed following a fire tragedy in Silanga area in Nairobi’s Kibra area.

Victims say a stove exploded in one of the houses, causing a blaze that destroyed more than 30 houses.

The fire is reported to have started at 7pm on Friday evening.

Area residents have accused fire fighters from the Nairobi County Government of sleeping on the job, saying they took long to respond.

Just three weeks ago, another fire left 5 people dead and 120 houses destroyed in the same area of Silanga.
