50-year-old ex-prisoner arrested for allegedly defiling one-year-old daughter

A 50-year-old ex-prisoner was on Sunday arrested after allegedly defiling his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter in Nyamiacho village, Nyamira County.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nyamira North Police boss Timothy Muasya said the suspect has been in hiding since Friday when he allegedly committed the act.

Mr. Muasya added that the man was arrested after members of Nyumba Kumi noticed him trying to sneak back into his house and alerted the police.

The man’s 19-year-old wife previoulsy told police officers that, on Friday, she left the child in the company of her father only to return and find him washing the toddler’s private parts.

She then took her to a nearby hospital where it was ascertained that the child had been defiled, upon which she alerted the police.

Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba said the suspect was only recently released from jail after completing his 15-year sentence.

The suspect is presently being detained at Ekerenyo Police Station pending arraignment on Monday.
