5,000 litres of illicit brew nabbed in South B

Over 5,000 litres of illicit brew were netted during a raid conducted by Starehe MP Maina Kamanda in Nairobi’s South B estate.

The operation, which was conducted in collaboration with local county administration officers, followed a tip off from residents who alerted them of a hideout for illicit brew in the area.

The tip led them to a go-down where 5,000 litres of illicit brew were discovered.

Starehe MP Maina Kamanda was, however, quick to point accusing fingers at some police officers, who he claimed had been transferred but had refused to leave.

This, he says, has created a network that is hard to crack.

Kamanda wants the officers, who he claims have overstayed in the area, to be transferred if the war against illicit is to be won in the area.

A local administrator, Omar Benja, warned his officers against laxity saying action will be taken against those found entertaining illicit brew in their areas.
