510 Kenyan NGOs Deregistered

The board says most of the NGOs failed to file their annual returns and audit reports for their funding.

Among the NGOs on this list are Central Kenya Women and Youth Development Centre, Child to Child Kenya, Jitegemee Kenya, Peace and Development Partners, Save The Poor Child Organization, Trauma Response Organization among others

The Board also says that 15 NGOs are currently being investigated over claims that they have been funding terror activities in the country

The NGOs being investigated over these allegations have not been made public though

According to the NGOs Board, the organizations have been financing terror activities in Kenya and in the Horn of Africa

The NGOs are being accused of being used for criminal activities including acting as conduits of terrorism financing in Kenya and in the Horn of Africa

Their accounts according to the Board have been frozen and the case being handled by the FBI.

All NGOs with expatriate staff are now required to update their work permit records of their employees.

Over 3,000 NGOs in the country have now been given 21-days to furnish the board with their audit returns failure to which they will also face deregistration.
