6 Firearms Recovered In Troubled Kapedo
The firearms were recovered by security officers who were carrying out an operation in the area
The guns were stolen by bandits after they killed 21 officers in Kapedo over the weekend
Kapedo is one of the remotest parts of northern Kenya and is currently in dispute between Pokots and Turkanas
The recovery comes two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta visited the area and ordered the bandits to return the weapons within one day
Baringo County Commissioner Peter Okwany said they received 5 guns from locals while the 6th was found abandoned in an area
Okwany said the operation will continue until all the missing firearms were recovered.
He added that the security officers would also pursue and flush out the bandits who are in hiding after the killings
The killings of the APs happened days after 3 GSU officers and civilians were killed by the bandits in the same area.
