The Form Four students had sneaked out of school at night and had stopped near a sugarcane plantation when an alarm was raised alerting the owners of the farm who came out with crude weapons and chased after the students, beating them up.

The boys were seriously injured with one of them sustaining a broken arm.

Area chief Thomas Ondieki said the students were rescued and rushed to Keumbu Hospital as investigations into the incident continue.

A section of parents stormed the school on Sunday, accusing the administration of laxity in ensuring discipline among the students.

“We are saying that the school must take care of its students. Especially when teachers are not around, like yesterday. The boarding master, deputy principal and principal were also not around, so the students found an opportunity to get out. If possible, the school administration should be changed,” said one of the parents.

The school principal Naneford Omosa declined to comment on the matter.
