6-month-old baby contracts coronavirus as tally of positive cases in Kenya jump to 490

25 Kenyans from 1112 samples tested in the last 24 hours have tested positive for the new coronavirus bringing the tally of positive cases to 490.

The new infections-all Kenyans- are distributed between Mombasa and Nairobi counties in 10 and 15 cases respectively.

In terms of gender, 12 of the new cases are female whilst 13 are male.

Speaking from Afya House on Monday, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi noted that the new cases were from patients aged between 6 months and 60 years.

In Nairobi- which is leading with the number of confirmed cases- the cases are spread out as follows; Eastleigh-8, Kariobangi South-10, Mathare-1, Kawangware-2, Kahawa West- 1 and Umoja-2.

In Mombasa, the cases are spread out as follows; Bombolulu-1, Old Town-8 and Jomvu-1.

All the reported new cases do not have any recent history of travel.

At the same time, 6 people have been discharged from the isolation centres, bringing to 173, the total number of recoveries.
