6 People Die In Naivasha Road Accident

The six, among them three men, a woman and two children  died on the spot when the matatu they were travelling in collided with a lorry at kinungi area.

Among the dead are, a father and his son who were headed for easter holidays, a one year old child, two teenagers and a middle aged woman.

Police say the commuter van was speeding and oblivious of the foggy and wet weather around kinungi trading center.

According to the police officer at the scene, the matatu driver appeared to have misjudged his lane and drifted straight into the oncoming lorry.

The lorry driver escaped immediately after the morning accident.

A survivor claimed that the driver of the matatu had ignored constant pleas from the passengers to slow down.

Survivors who sustained injuries were rushed to kijabe mission hospital for treatment.

The matatu driver was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The mangled wreckage was towed to the Naivasha police station.

The matatu was heading to Nairobi from Nyahururu.
