According to the Kericho County Police Commander Rose Muchuma, the driver of the bus belonging to modern western coach had attempted to overtake the lorry but realized an oncoming Probox car forcing him to swerve back to his lane accidentally hitting the lorry from its rear.

Police and Red Cross personnel worked fast to save lives and secure property at the scene of the accident as fire fighters from the Kericho county government helped put out the fire.

The injured who included the two drivers were rushed to various hospitals in Kericho town.

The ill-fated wreckage of both truck and bus were towed to the Kericho Police station as investigations into the accident commence.
