68 KRA staff may face trial if DPP okays probe findings

More than 68 Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) staff might face trial on various charges if the Director of Public Prosecution approves the findings of investigations against them.

Lead Prosecutor Alexanda Muteti told Justice Luka Kimaru that they have received a letter regarding 16 files from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations indicating that their probe is complete.

The Prosecution requested for 30 days to go through the findings in the files.

21 KRA staff are however still being investigated, the court was told.

A number of KRA staff were arrested close to two months ago over corruption allegations.

The respondents were released on a Ksh. 200, 000 cash bail or bond and since then, have been reporting to the DCI before Justice Kimaru  suspended the order.

He directed that any further appearance will be by formal summons from the investigators office.

The case will be mentioned on September 19, 2019 when the prosecution is expected to give a report on who will be prosecuted.
