69-year-old man found dead at Anglican Church

A 69-year-old man was on Saturday found dead at an Anglican Church in Ngerwe, Embu County, where he was working as a security guard.

Embu North OCPD Mark Wanjala said the body of Jason Nyaga Njiru was found in one of the timber houses within the church compound where he is reported to have been sheltering from the rains.

According to the police boss, they were alerted by the deceased’s son who reported to the police that his father had not returned home in the morning after work.

The OCPD said Mzee Nyaga’s body had no physical injuries, adding that the elderly man was not in a stable health condition.

“The body had no visible injuries, but we are told that he was not feeling well in the last few days. Also considering his advanced age, this cold and rainy season might have greatly affected his health,” said the OCPD.

The body was moved to Gakwegori Funeral Home mortuary pending a postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
