7 Kiambu Chiefs Interdicted For Laxity

Kiambu County Commissioner Esther Maina said the issue of illegal immigrants hiding out in the area was rife and this made it insecure.

The illegal immigrants have been avoiding the ongoing swoops in Nairobi and finding a safe haven in Kiambu.

A large number of illegal immigrants have already been deported back to their original counties in the ongoing swoops in the county.

For the past weeks, Kenya police have arrested nearly 4,000 Somalis during a widespread police swoop, about 200 of them were sent back home, while others are still in detention.

The officers are targeting individuals who are in the country without valid documents, those who were outside the precincts of legally gazetted areas and those who have forged documents.

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo recently said security forces will intensify their operations on terrorists in the country to ensure that there is peace.

"I want to assure Kenyans that war against terrorist is still on and we are not relenting. We cannot be cowed by such heinous acts and therefore I fully declare war against any acts of crime in the country," Kimaiyo said.
