7 Migori County officials to spend over half a million to hold meeting in Mombasa

Seven Migori County Government officials are set to spend over half a million on transport and accommodation for a four-day meeting in Mombasa.

The officials from the department of public service management are among other executives from other departments currently in Mombasa for a bonding session with the Migori Members of County Assembly.

In a letter dated signed by the Chief Officer for Public Service Management Roseline Otieno to the county Chief Officer Finance and Planning, the seven officials requested for Ksh.615,600.

The meeting between the executive and the legislators kicked off on Tuesday (20th August 2019) amid criticism from a section of the elected leaders and the locals

Migori Senator Ochilo Ayacko, speaking at Kebirato Catholic Church on Sunday, August 18, faulted the meeting between the county executives and the MCAs in Mombasa citing it as a waste of public funds.

Ochilo questioned the source of the money being spent by both the executive and the MCAs yet the county government claimed it was broke.

He said such funds spent on the trip ought to have been used to buy drugs for the county health facilities or cater for more important services.
