7-year-old boy stabbed to death in Matungu, Kakamega

A seven-year-old boy was Sunday night murdered in cold blood by unknown assailants at Panyako village in Matungu Constituency, Kakamega County.

The attackers are said to have raided the boy’s home at around 7pm while his parents had gone for prayers at a nearby mosque.

Confirming the incident, area OCPD John Matsili said the Class One pupil was repeatedly stabbed on the neck and stomach with a knife.

The relatives of the boy said he was confirmed dead at a local hospital where he was rushed.

This comes barely a week after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i announced a major security operation in the area to flush out armed gangs that have been terrorising locals for the last three months.

“The days of those criminals who have been attacking villagers and killing them are numbered. From today, we are deploying the GSU and increasing the number of other security officers to restore sanity,” he said.
