70 bags of subsidized fertilizer nabbed in Kirinyaga

Police in Kirinyaga County have seized 70 bags of subsidized fertilizer that was being repackaged in a house at Kagio trading center by a local trader on Thursday evening.

The suspect and her two employees were arrested and are being held at Kagio police station.

According to Ndia OCPD Sicily Gatiti, investigations into the matter are currently underway.

In January, security officers in  Kirinyaga impounded over 200 bags of assorted fertilizer and hundreds of DAP and NPK gunny bags in a raid for counterfeit products.

In a operation led by Kirinyaga AP commander Daudi Mohammed, three suspects among them a Nyeri County employee in the Ministry of Agriculture were arrested.

The officers also recovered a generator, two sewing machines, a roll of sewing thread and a lorry.
