70-year-old man lynched by angry mob after he attacked his own relatives

Residents of Malooni village in Liyuni sub-location, Machakos County lynched a 70-year-old man on Monday morning after he attacked 4 of his own relatives, including his niece and her 3 children.

The man, Jonah Ndunda Mutunga, is said to have had differences with the family of his deceased brother over land.

He reportedly went looking for his sister-in-law at about 10pm on Sunday night, but instead found the niece and her children in their home.

He attacked the 4 family members using a machete injuring all four who are currently admitted at the Machakos hospital.

One of the four family members is to be transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital owing to the extensive nature of injuries sustained.

The attacker then hid in the bush but was found by an angry mob of locals on Monday morning that attacked him, set him ablaze, and also burnt his home.

He succumbed in the afternoon at Machakos Hospital.
