6 injured in Molo school bus accident

Six members of a church youth group were seriously injured after a school bus they were traveling in lost control and rolled several times at Kibunja area, in Molo along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

Molo OCPD Daniel Kamanza confirmed the incident saying the bus driver veered off the road to avoid ramming a Toyota Noah vehicle that was trying to overtake.

The OCPD blamed the driver of the Toyota Noah for overtaking carelessly hence confusing the driver of the bus.

Fifty-two youth from Burnt Forest Catholic Church were aboard the Queen of Peace Rukuini School Bus and were heading to the Subukia Shrines for a tour.

Passengers on-board the Toyota Noah escaped unhurt after the driver directed the vehicle to a roadside ditch.

The OCPD urged drivers using the highway to be extra careful during this festive season, adding that law enforcers would do their best to crackdown on rogue drivers.

One of the passengers in the Toyota Noah said they were heading to Eldoret when their driver tried to overtake two trailers which were moving uphill.

“Our driver was forced to drive the vehicle into a ditch to avoid a head on collision with the oncoming school bus,” he recounted.

Two victims who sustained serious injuries were rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital, while four others were rushed to the Molo Sub-county hospital.
