8 people killed in Kirinyaga accident

8 people died on Thursday night in a road accident that involved three lorries at Kangoco area near Kibirigwi trading centre along the Sagana-Karatina road, Kirinyaga County.

According to Mwea-West OCPD Samuel Saurey, a lorry that was heading to Nairobi ferrying over 150 goats lost control and hit two other lorries that were heading to Karatina.

Saurey said one lorry was loaded with building stones and the other one was packed with french beans.

It is reported 7 people died on the spot in the 9PM accident and the other one later died at Karatina hospital.

There was a heavy traffic snarl-up until 2AM.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Murang’a hospital mortuary.
