80-year old medic defiles a minor

Police in Gem are looking for an 80 year old clinical officer alleged to have defiled a 15 year old school girl who had gone to seek medical attention in his private clinic.

Walter Omwake, who runs Walmar Community Eye and Medical Clinic at Ulumbi market in Yala Township, is alleged to have defiled the minor in his examination room on Sunday.

Omwoke is said to have locked himself up with the minor in one of the rooms under the guise of examining her, before allegedly defiling her.

According to the girl’s mother, she took the daughter for eye check-up but the doctor asked her to leave the room to allow him conduct the examination.

The mother said she started getting uneasy when the examination took longer than expected but decide to remain patient.

The girl, the mother says, came out of the examination room crying saying that the doctor had defiled her.

The mother says upon questioning the doctor on the allegations, he denied.

She reported the matter to the police before taking the daughter for examination at the Yala Sub County hospital where results showed that there was penetration.

The mother is now asking the authorities to help her get justice for her daughter.

She says that the doctor had pleaded with her to settle the matter out of court but she declined the Ksh 250,000 offer he was tabling.

Gem OCPD Wambua Mutiso said the doctor has since gone into hiding but investigations have commenced.

This is not the first doctor in the country to allegedly defile a patient.

In September, Citizen TV ran an expose on fake doctor Mugo Wa Wairimu who was filmed allegedly sedating and raping his patients.

In the film, Mugo is seen raping a sedated woman who had reportedly visited his clinic for medical attention.

Mugo is currently out on a cash bail of Ksh 1 million.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) came out strongly to discredit Mugo’s clinical operations saying he is neither registered with the board as a doctor nor a gynecologist.

Cases of fake doctors have also been on the rise over the recent past in the country.
