9 arrested after EACC raids Meru lands registry
- EACC detectives spent two weeks investigating the nine officials before they were arrested.
- The suspects were taken to the Isiolo Regional Office.
- They are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) raided the Meru Lands Registry and arrested nine officials following claims of illegal dealings.
Among those seized were Catherine Makau (County Lands Registrar), Elias Thuranira (subordinate staff), Pamela Mwendwa (clerical officer) and Nancy Mugo (support staff).
“We were told that they were using brokers to demand for bribes,” EACC spokesman Yassin Amaro said.
According to him, detectives spent two weeks investigating the nine officials before they were arrested.
The suspects were taken to the Isiolo Regional Office and are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
