9 suspects arrested over robbery, gang rape at Maseno University

Nine suspects have been arrested in connection with robbery with violence and gang rape of students at Maseno University in Kisumu.

The suspects were arrested on Sunday by Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives acting on a tip-off.

The nine include: Patrick Okanda, Peter Amango Sande, Geoffrey Okiya Mutunga, Obed Panyako, Peter Obed, David Ndegu, Samuel Kuya, Stephen Oloo and Nahashon Arena.

Police say they recovered bhang, pangas, claw bars and stolen chairs from the suspects, who are expected to be arraigned.

Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway for more suspects who are said to have escaped during the operation.
