Ababu accuses Jubilee of using force to amend laws

Pressure continues to mount on President Uhuru Kenyatta not to assent to the recently amended Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2015.

The latest leader to add his voice to the growing list is the Budalangi Member of Parliament, Ababu Namwamba, who has accused the Jubilee MPs of voting in favour of the amendments without thinking of the consequences.

Namwamba accused the Jubilee administration of using force and its numerical strength to force the passage of the amendments on a law that affects thousands of Kenyans.

“It was very wrong for Jubilee to use force to pass a law that directly impacts on millions of Kenyans,” said Namwamba.

“The Jubilee administration has to understand that it cannot lead the country on its own, it needs assistance.”

Namwamba said that Jubilee legislators should not take advantage of their numerical strength in the National Assembly to unilaterally make amendments to laws.

He said that the ruling coalition MPs must first think of the consequences that will follow their actions before making decisions.

He was speaking in his Budalangi constituency of Friday.
