Abducted 4-year-old girl rescued in Machakos, ex-KDF officer among suspects arrested
Police have rescued a 4-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped on Friday, May 24 in Utawala area, Nairobi.
The girl was traced to Machakos County where she was found in the custody of two suspects; a man and woman, who have since been arrested.
Officers from the Special Crimes and Prevention Unit in collaboration with those in the Intelligence department are said to have laid a trap for the suspects who were nabbed with the girl at a petrol station in Machakos town.
The two; Christopher Mwaula Kathinzi aged 22 and 20-year-old Teresia Mwongela Kioko, had reportedly demanded a Ksh.1 million ransom for the girl’s release.
According to police, one of the suspects; Kathinzi, is a former Kenya Defence Forces officer who was sacked from the service.
The girl, who is in Baby Class, is reported to have been abducted by two unknown persons while walking near the gate to their home.
