Aboud Rogo widow sentenced to 10 years in prison

The Shanzu Law Courts on Friday sentenced the widow of the late Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo to ten years in prison.

Haniya Saggar was found guilty of withholding information regarding the bombing of Mombasa Central Police Station in 2016.

While delivering her ruling, Mombasa Senior Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache observed that the evidence presented before her was sufficient to prove that Ms. Saggar was aware of the planned attack by mastermind Tasmin Yakub who was killed in the attack on September 11, 2016.

The court however found her not guilty of being involved in the planning of the attack saying that the prosecution did not prove its claims.

Ms. Saggar was arrested in Mombasa after being accused of being an accomplice.
