Act On Graft Now Lest We Protest, Civil Societies

Under The Devolution Forum (TDF) umbrella, the civil society groups have also demanded for a state address by the President on what his administration intends to do in the fight against corruption.

Led by former ethics and governance PS John Githongo, the activists have hit out at the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly being involved in corruption.

This comes amid a probe by the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Committee on bribery claims facing the Public Accounts Committee.

MISUSE OF FUNDS

This was after Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba accused Defence PS Mutea Iringo of bribing four members of the Public Accounts Committee to alter audit reports implicating government officials in misuse of funds.

The chair of the suspended watchdog committee also tabled audio evidence supporting his claims adding  that a section of PAC members were bribed to make changes to the audit report on judiciary alleged financial mismanagement.

Namwamba’s grilling was done in public after the PAC chair requested National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi to have his testimony open to the public.

Defence PS Mutea Iringo has, however, denied the claims.
