Activists, ODM members want Kisumu police boss transferred

Human rights’ activists and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members in Kisumu now want county Administration Police boss Muiruri Karanja, who is also the Commander of the QRT AP squad, transferred with immediate effect over what they termed as mishandling of protesters during the anti-IEBC march.

Led by activist Audi Ogada, they also want the AP officer – identified allegedly hitting helpless women at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground, transferred.

Ogada says the AP boss was also seen hitting a Mr George Kopalla, an activist also,  during the demonstrations adding that he (Kopalla) suffered head injuries.

Kisumu Central Constituency ODM Treasurer Edward Ogolla says the push for removal of IEBC from office will not stop until the commissioners resign.

Ogolla says they will not accept any further police brutality adding that it is the ODM party that has been in the forefront in fighting for police reforms.
