Aden Duales re-election contested

Farah Maalim wants IEBC ordered to conduct afresh parliamentary election for Garissa Township saying that Jubilee’s National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale was not validly re-elected.

In the election petition filed at the High Court, Nairobi on Tuesday,  the former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Maalim claimed massive irregularities marred the Garissa Township election as well as in the entire Northeastern.

In addition, he wants the court to order the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to avail all materials including voter registers, counterfoils, electronic devices and equipment used in all the polling stations in Garissa Township parliamentary election within 48 hours.

Further, Maalim claimed that his rival’s supporters were allowed to vote mote than twice and were not marked with indelible ink or keyed into kits as having voted.

The former Deputy Speaker claimed there were deliberate delays in areas perceived to be his strongholds on election day.
