Muthaiga Five Want Narok Governor Arrested For Incitement

Led by Narok Senator Stephen Ole Ntutu, leaders opposed to the leadership of Governor Samuel Ole Tunai have called for his arrest over what they alleged was mismanagement of the county resources and incitement.

The leaders accused the Governor of terming the leaders, who include Senator Ntutu and Legislators Johanah Ng’eno of Emurua Dikirr, Patrick Ntutu of Narok West, Moitalel Ole Kenta of Narok North and Korei Ole Lemein of Narok South, of being enemies of the Kipsigis.

The five argue that the statement made by the Governor three weeks ago during a burial ceremony is inflammatory and can lead to ethnic clashes.

Further, the leaders have accused the Governor of misappropriating Ksh 13 billion just two years after assuming power as the Narok County boss.

COUNCIL OF GOVERNORS

The leaders, who were in Emurua Dikirr, said that the resources meant for Narok County are not for leaders but for the citizenry.

Further to this, Senator Ntutu told off Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto who has been playing a mediation role in the county wars. He said that Rutto’s input into the county affairs is uninvited since he will favour the Governor who is a member of the Council of Governors that Rutto chairs.

The Senator’s sentiments were echoed by area Member of Parliament Johanah Ng’eno who further discouraged tribalism and vowed to fight corruption to the bitter end.

Narok West MP Patric Ntutu declared April 6th, 2015 as a day set for great protest against mismanagement of Narok County resources.

The MP said that the ‘Muthaiga five’ are ready to be arrested just like Nelson Mandela and that the law should be applied equally to all.

The five leaders were arrested in mid-January over allegations of incitement to violence.
