AG: Govt To Regulate Church Ministries

Muigai said this during a meeting with church leaders in Nairobi after clerics accused the government of planning to limit   in churches.

Among leaders who attended the meeting are Chair of Women Preachers Susan Karanja and Chair of United Christians Jerry Kibarabara who conceded that government regulation of churches would help deal with wayward preachers.

Earlier this week, the AG issued orders to all religious organizations in the country to file returns of their current status with the Registrar of Societies.

The information to be provided was to include full name of the organization, registration number, and the registration number stated among other requisitions.

This comes in the wake of an uproar after flamboyant city preacher Victor Kanyari was exposed for allegedly using dubious means to get money from his flock.
