Al Shabaab kill four in Lamu, Mandera attacks
Four people have been killed by suspected Al Shabaab fighters in attacks perpetrated in the last two days in Lamu and Mandera counties.
On Thursday morning, Al Shabaab militants attacked Lafey sub-County headquarters killing one police officer and torching four police vehicles before making way with one more.
Speaking by phone, Lafey Deputy County Commissioner Eric Oronyi said the attack was executed by more than 50 armed militants.
On Wednesday, another group suspected of Al Shabaab fighters ambushed a passenger bus on the Malindi-Lamu highway injuring five people.
Later, the attackers killed three people at Lango la Simba in Witu and burnt them beyond recognition.
The vehicle they were travelling in from Gamba headed to Witu was also torched. Several hundred metres from that scene, two motorcycles were also burnt down.
