Al-Shabaab militants attack village in Mandera

Suspected Al-Shabaab militants early Sunday morning reportedly launched an attack on Hareri hosle village near Mandera town.

Taking to Twitter, VOA journalist Harun Maruf said local residents reported heavy gunfire in the area.

Al-Shabaab militants have launched an attack on the village of Xariiro Hoofle (possible I misspelled location), near Mandera town in the early hours of Sunday. Local residents have reported a heavy gunfire. Still trying to get more information about casualties.

Sources who spoke to Citizen Digital said one Kenya Police Reserve (KPR) officer has since been injured and his gun stolen.

The militants reportedly raided a store in the village and made away with food stuff and torches.
