Al Shabaab militants raid Mandera camp, steal BVR kits
Al Shabaab is reported to have attacked Arabia AP Camp in Mandera County at dawn, Thursday, making away with four IEBC BVR kits, one Police Land cruiser and three guns.
Speaking in Parliament, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaiserry also confirmed that all the 21 officers manning Arabia AP camp are alive and safe.
The terrorists destroyed telecommunication masts, cutting off communication between officers and their commanders.
According to the North Eastern Regional Coordinator Mohamud Saleh, a contingent of police officers has been deployed in the area to bring operations back to normal.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks that happened at least 100 kilometers away from Mandera town.
