Aladwa, Arati record statements over militia training claims
Former Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati have been interrogated by detectives at CID headquarters, following claims by a university student that the officials have been recruiting youth as militia to help destabilize the Jubilee government.
Speaking after the interrogation, the duo’s lawyer Harun Ndubi, however, said the two leaders had been invited as witnesses to shed more light on the claims.
Ndubi says Arati and Aladwa are among eight witnesses summoned to give their side of the story over the allegations by the student.
The student, Wycliffe Ouma Ochieng, appeared before a Nairobi Court on Tuesday last week following the allegations.
He told the court that the recruits were to work jointly with South Sudan Vice President Riek Machar’s forces in the mission.
