Alarm over rise in crime in Kikuyu after three armed robbers escape

Police in Kikuyu are pursuing three suspected armed robbers from Ruwinu Village in Ndenderu area, Kabete after they escaped from their hideout.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kikuyu Deputy County Commander Paul Famba said that police however recovered two guns, an AK-47 and a Barreta pistol, 30 rounds of ammunition and some home made guns at the house believed to be their hideout.

“I want to assure Ruwinu residents of their security… we are going to run criminals out of this place,” he said.

Two suspects were also arrested and are now assisting police with investigations.

Mr Famba told Citizen Digital that the manhunt is ongoing and that they have called for reinforcement to help pursue the criminals.

“People holding illegal firearms have been engaging in serious crimes within this sub-county, including killing business people,” he said.

The police boss also revealed that there has been an unusual upsurge of crime in Kikuyu Sub-County over the past six weeks, but assured that they are doing their best to apprehend the criminals, whom he said they know by name.

He noted that the strategies employed by law enforcers in the area to nab the criminals are now bearing fruit.
