Alego/Usoga CDF allocates Sh2M to needy students

Alego/Usoga Constituency office has set aside Sh2 million towards supporting the education of form one students who scored 350 marks and above in last year’s KCPE examinations.

While speaking at the CDF offices in Siaya Town, Alego/Usonga MP George Muluan Omondi’s personal aide Mr Oscar Wambiya stated that the CDF committee allocated the money to strictly benefit bright and needy students.

This opportunity is given to the various students so that they could comfortably secure a chance in better secondary schools.

Mr Wambiya advised the students through their parents and guardians to collect application forms at the CDF office and fill then return them before the January 25, 2016 deadline.

Mr Wambiya however stated that there are numerous bursary schemes including CDF, Ministry of education, county government and presidential bursary alongside bank scholarships that can be exploited to access secondary education.

The MP’s aide however urged those who were left out of the scholarship cut mark of 350 marks and are also needy to ensure they apply for the normal bursaries.

The KCPE exams 2015 saw 201,986 candidates who were able to score between 300 and 400 points out of a possible 500, while 499,568 candidates scored between 200 and 300 points.

In addition, 215,614 candidates scored between 100 and 200 points. However, 3,061 students scored less than 100 points out of 500 marks.

Elsewhere, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda through the CDF committee released bursary cheques worth over Sh4 million towards supporting the education of 240 university and middle level college students.

According to Ochanda, they gave out a Sh15,000 flat rate to middle level college students and an amount of between Sh20,000 to Ksh 30,000 to university students depending on the courses that each one undertakes.
