All Machakos villages to have piped water this month, says Mutua

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has warned vandals who have been targeting solar panels and pipes installed in an ongoing multimillion project meant to supply clean water to households in the county.
Governor Mutua said the project will provide clean piped water to 300,000 homes once it is completed
The county boss plans to ensure all sub locations and villages are connected to piped water by end of this month.
“The county So far has 255 boreholes that have been dug through this initiative and the process of equipping them is still on going. The county government has eight machines that are fully functional that are to be used to dig up more boreholes in the county,” said Dr Mutua.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader said it was unfortunate that today women in Machakos are forced to fetch water and carry the jerricans on their backs to their homesteads.
“The project entails two faces. There is no borehole that has been dug that will be abandoned at that stage. They all have to pass through the second stage of equipping them with solar panels, tanks and tapes necessary.”
Providing tapped water to the otherwise dry county has been one of major campaign points for Governor Mutua.
“The project will be successful and Machakos County will be the ideal County to be emulated by other regions in the country,” Dr Mutua added.
