All set for Kitui West by-election tomorrow

Voters in Kitui West Constituency are set to go to the ballot on Monday, March 26 to elect their Member of Parliament.

The race has attracted a host of candidates from various political parties among them deceased legislator Francis Nyenze’s widow, Edith Nyenze who is running on a Wiper Democratic Movement Party ticket.

Mrs. Nyenze, who is seen as a front runner in the race, is set to battle it out with 4 other candidates, namely; Elijah Muimi Kilonzi (Chama Cha Muungano), Robert Mutiso Lelli (NARC Kenya), Dennis Muli Mulwa (Independent) and Dr. Frida Nyiva Mutui (Kenya National Congress.)

Edith is a career teacher who, for many years, served as the Kyondoni Girls Secondary School Principal.

Her campaigns have been spearheaded by Wiper leader and NASA Co-Principal Kalonzo Musyoka as well as other party bigwigs.

The Kitui West parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Mr. Francis Nyenze who succumbed to Colon cancer in December 2017.

On Saturday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said it is ready to hold the Kitui West Parliamentary by-election set for Monday.

IEBC Commissioner Ambassador Paul Kurgat said all voting materials were on the ground ahead of distribution to polling centres.
