All You Need to Know About The New iPhone 6S and 6S Plus

After months of waiting, the much hyped iPhone 6S and 6S plus were finally unveiled on Wednesday night. In this review, we give you all you need to know about the new iPhone devices, and why most Apple fans were dissatisfied by the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus release.

Thumbs Up

Though the new models come with a few interesting features such as 3D Touch and improved Cameras, most of the features announced are already available in its counterpart Android phones.

3D Touch
This is a new feature designed to change the way users interact with their smartphones screens. 3D Touch senses how deeply you press the display, letting you do all kinds of essential things more quickly and simply. The feature, only available in iPhone 6s and 6s plus, relies on pressure as a way to interact with the elements on the screen.

As opposed to Force Touch which relies solely on traditional gestures like swiping and pinching, 3D touch allows one to preview content (peek) on the screen by long-pressing. A continuous press on that element makes it “pop” out allowing you to view it completely.

12 Megapixels Camera
As opposed to their earlier models that were stuck with 8 Megapixel cameras, iPhone 6S and 6S plus comes with 12 Megapixels iSight camera that captures sharp, detailed photos. With its 5-megapixel facetime camera, the device also caters for “selfie-lovers”.

4K Video Recording
For the first time, IOS users can shoot in 4k resolution (3840 by 2160 at 30 fps). According to Apple, each frame has 8 million pixels, for “incredible details”. These ultra-high resolution videos can be edited directly in the phone.

Thumbs Down

4.7″ and 5.5″
Just like their predecessors, the new iphone 6S comes with a 4.7-inch display while iphone 6s plus adopts the 5.5-inch display. Another disspaointing aspect is that the screen resoltuion has also remained the same, with the smaller model adopting the 720p resolution while the bigger variant offering a 1080p display.

Built-in Rechargeable Battery
One of the things that made Samsung receive a lot of backlash on the launch of its Note 5 was the built-in battery. It seems Apple did not learn a lesson from that and still maintained their built-in battery on its latest model. As compared to their earlier models, the battery life hasn’t also improved with device promising up to 24 hours talk time on 3G.

High Price But Less Storage Space
For a starting price of $649 and $749, you get only 16GB of internal memory, with no option for additional SD Card. With the 16GB internal storage space, one can easily tell that the space is too little, given that 1.3 GB is already taken by the iOS 9 OS. After taking your 12MP photos and 4K videos, it is quite easily to tell that one won’t have enough space for other things like music collection, games or iTunes movies, which can take up to 10GB.
