Am not a political appointee, Wamalwa tells MPs

Former Cabinet Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs Eugene Wamalwa has refuted claims that his appointment into cabinet was political.

Speaking when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments, Wamalwa further stated that he has no interest in engaging in politics if confirmed as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Water and Irrigation.

Wamalwa also vowed to effect laws that will ring changes in the water ministry.

The former Saboti MP is making a return to the Cabinet after more than two years “in the cold” having last served as the Justice and Constitutional Affair Minister during the Mwai Kibaki-led coalition government.

Eugene Wamalwa was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to head the newly formed water ministry mid-April, together with Ambassador Monica Juma who is set to take up the Secretary to the Cabinet position previously held by Francis Kimemia.
