Amani party not allied to Jubilee, Mudavadi says

Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has dissociated his party from the newly launched Jubilee Party.

Speaking at a rally at Mumias East Constituency in Kakamega County, Mudavadi said that his party offers the Luhya community as sense of identity and called for the region’s support in the run up to the 2017 General Election.

He also expressed confidence in defeating Jubilee in the next elections, accusing the administration of failing to deliver on their pre-election pledges to Kenyans.

Mudavadi also assured sugar farmers of his commitment to streamline the sugar industry in the country by ensuring companies are stable and farmers are well paid.

He accused Jubilee of using the sugar levy to revive Mumias Sugar Company while claiming the money was a bailout.

On the issue of party hopping, Mudavadi castigated leaders from the region for defecting to Jubilee calling on those who are interested in joining Amani to do so in nine days.

County MCAs Albert Wetundu of Mugai Shirugu ward and Cleophas Malala of Mahiakalo ward hit out at a section of MPs affiliated to the defunct UDF for defecting to Jubilee saying their actions amount to betrayal.

Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe, Ikolomani MP Bernard and Malava MP Malulu Injendi are the UDF MPs who joined Jubilee.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula was also among the MPs said to have defected to Jubilee, later attended one of the rallies and voiced his support for Amani and its leader Musalia Mudavadi.
