Amendment of ELECTION LAWS ILLEGAL Raila

The amendments to the Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2016 are illegal.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga says that the amendments on the electoral laws passed by Members of Parliament allied to the ruling Jubilee coalition are not only illegal but in bad faith.

Odinga accused the Jubilee administration of abusing a negotiated process to institute changes to the election laws.

“What Jubilee did was not only illegal but in very bad faith. It is not possible to amend a document that was negotiated without consulting the other party,” said Odinga.

The CORD leader said the opposition will not allow the changes made by Jubilee to become effective and will use all mechanisms within its disposal.

“We will not just sit and watch as Jubilee mutilate the law, we will use and exhaust all the avenues in our disposal.”
